I have the same problem. The Apple TV (2012) simply cuts off playback and shows a message that Home Sharing needs to be enabled on the PC (Win7).

What works for the short term is to start playback on the PC and stream the video to your Apple TV using AirPlay (bottom right in iTunes). You can do this using the Remote app too if you will, however that requires Home Sharing to function.

I got an interesting piece of junk mail the other day.

It was from Lowe?s, offering me ?home selling tips? and a discount coupon.

The mailer included the name and photo of a real estate agent with the following wording:

?Since you selected me as your real estate agent, I want to add as much value to your experience as possible?.

That was perhaps a little presumptuous, given that ?I hadn?t selected that agent and I have no interest in selling my home.

Not to mention the fact that I already know a good agent!

This mailing is part of Lowe?s ?Realtor Benefits? program that entices real estate agents to submit their client lists to Lowe?s to be used in their direct-mail campaigns to homeowners.

The supposed benefit for the agent is a free mailing intended to impress the recipients with the agent?s marketing prowess.

Since I don?t even know this agent, I?m guessing that she submitted the names of everyone in my subdivision to Lowe?s.

I wonder how many homeowners would feel warm and fuzzy about a real estate agent who helps increase their ?level of junk mail?

As you?ve probably already concluded, I will NEVER provide the names of my prospects or clients to be used by anyone else for anything!

For most people, January is a big month. Fuelled by strong determination to follow a fresh new direction in life, any good info that helps one get closer to the desired goals is welcomed.

One of the most frequent feng shui questions I receive is about the alignment of doors (both interior and exterior) and the influence of such door alignment on the feng shui energy of your home. The topic of doors alignment in feng shui has also been briefly discussed in the feng shui forum. As this is a concern with numerous houses, let?s look into some easy feng shui solutions.

First, let?s see why the direct alignment of two or more doors is considered bad feng shui. As feng shui is all about creating a balanced and harmonious flow of energy in your home, the direct alignment of two or more doors will create a harsh quality of feng shui energy resembling Sha Chi.

Imagine Chi, or energy, as water flowing into your space. You will see that water will rush very fast through the two or more directly aligned doors without actually slowing down and nourishing the space.

It is especially important to avoid a direct alignment of the front door with the back door. The reason you want to avoid this situation is because all good feng shui energy coming through the main door will easily escape through the back door without having a chance to circulate and nourish your home. Take this into consideration when you plan to renovate or remodel your home.

Your house needs good energy just like you need good quality air. It is important to be aware of the quality of feng shui energy created by your floor plan, and see what you can do to create better energy.

Now, what easy feng shui solutions are available to you if you live in a house with a direct alignment of doors? Depending on your floor plan, your budget and your decor style, here are some practical feng shui tips:

• Place a round table in the direct pathway of energy. This will redirect the energy and slow it down. A vase with fresh flowers on the table will improve the energy even further.

• Work with color to change the relationship between doors. Choose the right feng shui color for the area and strengthen one door more than the other. This will change the relationship between the two directly aligned doors and slow down the energy.

• Place a plant with a strong presence in the direct pathway of energy. The feng shui use of a plant, ideally tall and wide, in a visually strong pot, will achieve the similar effect of redirecting the energy.

• Reposition the existing furniture pieces to create a redirection of flow. If there is enough space in between the directly aligned doors, create a nice grouping, or a conversation area in the direct pathway. Ground the energy even more with a colorful rug.

Basically, what you need to do is redirect and soften the harsh energy flow created by two or more directly aligned doors. Going back to the feng shui energy flow check-up where you visualize Chi, or energy, as water, think of what would slow down and redirect the flow of water. Experiment till you find what works best for you.

Be sure to choose a way that is esthetically pleasing and works for you on a practical level. Improving the feng shui energy in your home with items appropriate for your decor and lifestyle is the best and most powerful application of feng shui. You just have to know how to use what you have.

Question: Why is a Mirror Facing the Main Door Bad Feng Shui?

Answer: Mirrors are called the aspirin of feng shui for a good reason. With the proper placement of mirrors, you can considerably shift the feng shui energy flow and create better feng shui in a home or office.

A mirror facing the main door is one of the two big taboos in feng shui (second one being a mirror facing a bed.)

The reason it is not recommended to have a mirror facing the main door is because the mirror pushes away all the good feng shui energy that is about to enter the house.

In feng shui it is considered that the house absorbs energy (Chi) through the main door, similar to a human face absorbing nutrition through the mouth. This is why the main door is often called the mouth of a house in feng shui.

Distance will only slightly change the effect of the mirror facing the main door, so if you have a mirror directly facing the main door, best feng shui advice is to remove it.

If you cannot remove the mirror, for example if the mirror is built-in and you are renting the place, or if you have mirrored closet doors facing the main door, then you have to look for creative solutions.

Feng shui always works best when it is applied in a creative and subtle way. So, cover the mirror with some creative applique, for example, or paint over it with a washable paint in a great color.

Other suitable feng shui solutions:

• Have a lush, big plant in front of the mirror.

• Tastefully hang a suitable size piece of art over the mirror, be absolutely sure it looks good.

• Have a tall enough piece of furniture centered on the mirrored wall. Again, you have to be sure it looks good.

• Have applique, or decorative stickers on the mirror (Ikea has some great wall or mirror stickers.)

Look for creative ideas to solve your problems, and you will attract good feng shui.

Piers Morgan, who won the first "Celebrity Apprentice," advises Donald Trump in the upcoming all-star season.

PASADENA, Calif. -- "All-Star Celebrity Apprentice" contestant Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth didn't hide her distaste for challenge adviser Piers Morgan when talking to reporters at the Television Critics Association's winter press tour Sunday morning, calling him "so nasty." She also accused the former champ of returning to the show "solely to torture" her.

It's a claim that Morgan doesn't dispute.

"When Donald Trump asked me to be his boardroom adviser on two of the new 'All-Star Celebrity Apprentice' challenges, I realized this would give me a unique opportunity to get Omarosa fired all over again," he told The Clicker Monday. "I saw it as a public duty on behalf of all Americans."

Omarosa knows she's come across as the bad guy on previous seasons of "The Apprentice" she participated in, but feels Morgan went overboard in his attacks on her. She had agreed to appear in the new season of the show to honor the legacy of her fiance, actor Michael Clarke Duncan, by trying to raise money for his charity, the Sue Duncan Children's Center. The "Green Mile" star was 54 when he died on Sept. 3. He had been an alumni of the charity.

"During my task where I was raising money for one fundraiser task, (Morgan) repeatedly said, 'Why is she here, Donald (Trump)? Why do you have her here? She doesn?t deserve to be here,' " Omarosa told The Clicker. "And I?m like, 'I deserve to be here because I?m fighting for Michael?s charity.' He?s like, 'Oh use that. Say that.'"

Omarosa, who said she was still grieving over Duncan's passing during filming, said Morgan's treatment of her became so "vulgar" some of her cast mates spoke up on her behalf. "They had to step up and tell producers and Donald and the other people to say, 'Enough is enough,' " Omarosa said. "Marilu (Henner) was probably the biggest one who went and lobbied that it just went too far."

NBC has not yet responded to a request for comment.

As tough as her experience was working with Morgan on "All-Star Celebrity Apprentice," Omarosa said it was worth it in the end.

"Seeing the faces of those kids (at the Sue Duncan Children's Center) made all the hell that Piers put me through, all the insults and his put downs, the long hours, the stress ... when I saw the faces of those kids ... I mean, that made it all worth while," she told us. "I knew that Michael was smiling down and he was very proud of me."

?All-Star Celebrity Apprentice? premieres March 3 at 9 p.m. on NBC.

Officials: Russia Christmas church attacks foiled

MOSCOW - Russian security forces killed three militants suspected of planning attacks on church services during the Russian Orthodox Christmas holiday, authorities said.

Security forces tried to stop a van in the restive?North Caucasus province of Kabardino-Balkaria?on Sunday but its occupants opened fire and were killed in the ensuing battle, the National Anti-Terrorism Committee said in a statement.

It said that explosives, guns and ammunition were found in the van and that the men who were killed had been planning attacks on churches during services marking Russian Orthodox Christmas, which is on Monday.

The statement gave no evidence to support that suspicion and the account could not be verified.

Deadly exchanges of gunfire between police and suspected militants at road checkpoints are common in Russia's North Caucasus, a string of provinces hit by an Islamist insurgency rooted in two separatist wars in Chechnya.

Kabardino-Balkaria, west of Chechnya, is mostly Muslim but has a sizable Christian minority.

President Vladimir Putin's 13 years in power have been marred by violence in the North Caucasus and attacks by the insurgents elsewhere, and he has called repeatedly for ethnic and religious peace during a new term that started last May.

Putin attended a midnight Russian Orthodox Christmas service early on Monday in Sochi, a Black Sea and Caucasus Mountain resort about 185 miles west of Kabardino-Balkaria that is to host the 2014 Winter Olympics.

As the Olympics come to an end in London, there are the 2014 Sochi Games in Russia to look forward to. NBC's Jim Maceda reports.
