ST LOUIS (LALATE) ? A Canada earthquake today 2013 has just struck west of Victoria. The Canada earthquake today July 26, 2013 began moments ago, but out to sea. Damage assessment is pending. No injuries have been reported.
Officials tell news that a 5.0 magnitude Canada earthquake today began just after 3:57 AM local time. The quake however had a nominal depth. Reps tell news that the quake started only six miles below sea level. As a result the quake could be felt to the east, on land.
USGS indicates to news that the strong Canada earthquake started roughly one hundred miles west of Port Hardy. The quake was about two hundred miles west of Campbell River and Courtenay. Reps also tell news that the quake was about three miles west of Victoria and roughly two hundred miles west of Port Alberni.
In May, another 5.0 quake struck the country but in a different region. The quake was sixteen miles northeast of Shawville. It started thirty-five miles east of Pembroke, forty miles northwest of Gatineau. Officials also tell news that the quake was forty-three miles northwest of Ottawa and forty-six miles east of Petawawa. That quake started only three miles below ground level as well, reps told news at the time.
